I’ve had a good experience with her. Highly recommend.

Breast surgeon rec at Schar: Dr. Cocilovo. Dr. Willey, well known from Georgetown, is there too now.
Breast surgeon rec at Virginia Cancer Specialists: Dr. Akbari or Dr. Vargas
Oncologist rec at Schar: Dr. Harnden or Dr. Rizzo
Good luck OP, the worst time (well ok Chemo has been the worst time) is before you get a team and have a plan in place.

I second Dr Vargas. Love him and Mary the nurse practitioner.

Dr Cocilovo is the best. Love her! Very warm and personable and explains everything clearly.

Dr Collette Magnant at Sibley

I also love Dr. Vargas and Mary Z, the nurse practitioner. Sorry other poster had a bad experience. They are out in Fair Oaks area.

Dr. Vargas and Mary Z were wonderful during my surgery and follow-up care.

Breast Surgeon: Eleni Tousimis at Georgetown
She is phenomenal, caring, compassionate and damn smart.

My sister also used Dr. Vargas and Mary, as well as Dr. Favret.

As an aside, I’ve been to the Inova Schar Cancer Center (multiple times- today, in fact!) and it is a very nice facility.

Does anyone have experience with Dr. O’DOnnell Debritz at Sibley?

Would who you recommend make any difference if mastectomy is being recommended due to amount of breast affected by cancer?

OP, I have no recommendations but just wanted to wish you well.

Dr Smith at sibley is an excellent medical oncologist.

I have breast surgery and regular surgery at Sibley and do not recommend it either.

I went to Eleni Tousimis after Sibley and was much happier.

To the posters who didn’t like Sibley - can you provide a little more info. about why?

I am a PP who did not like Sibley but I was there before the Hopkins takeover and so it may have changed. But in comparison with Georgetown I just felt more comfortable / more reassurance at Georgetown. I think I felt at Georgetown I had a better understanding of what was happening and what was going to happen.
