If your kids attend a fancy private school, would it be looked down to have a home birthday party?

No you don't!! Kids love the novelty to have the freedom to just hang out. Two hours will go by way too fast for them. You'd still have cake & singing but they will enjoy being kids

This really depends on the age of the children and the play space in the house.

Agree with this. We did some minor home made games (pin the tail on the donkey) but mostly just hung out at home parties.

Plan some sort of activity. We went to one of these earlier in the school year and it was a total shit-show. It happened during a weekend of a lot of parties for the class and it was all the parents could talk about the next day.

Depends on your house? I imagine they would look down at a small house?

We live in a large house. Our basement is about 5000sf.

You live in a 10-15k square foot house and you cannot hire some sort of entertainer or plan an activity? Are you just doing it this way to make a point?

Nearly every home birthday party I have attended had something or a craft/activity planned.

I would at least plan a scavenger hunt or have a few crafts. Otherwise they are going to destroy your house.

At the least organized home party I had, we had a piñata and I bought a karaoke machine. The karaoke entertained them almost the whole time.

Other years, we’ve rented a bounce house. It lets the kids blow off steam so they aren’t running around inside.

We always have at home parties for the kids in “fancy private school” but have planned activities. Right or wrong, little kids expect it. We hire a kiddy musical duo usually and have a couple activities.

+1 OP you didn't say how large of a party you want to have, and what your house setup is. Do you plan to be with the kids, or busy entertaining parents?

Our kids go to public school. We go dumpster diving for parties.

Seriously, people. Y'all need to get a grip.

I’ve never thought of a home party as less than a venue party? We often do venues bc it’s easier - they take care of it all. I personally felt like the one home party week did was the nicest.

Venues always seem like a cop out....kind of like the parents take the easy (expensive) way out. I'd rather hang out in someone's house.

When did it become not okay to socialize in one's home?
