Kitchen Aid stand mixer

Mine works great--I have had it for 12 yrs! I can bake like a pro.
However, I only use it 5-6x a year, and the cabinet space is probably not worth it (I have a small kitchen).
I wish I had a hand mixer.

Also, if the price is holding you back, you can get a refurbished one for less (the Artisan is under $200). I find the KA website hard to negotiate, but if you know the model and color you want, you can Google "factory refurbished [model] [color]" and bizrate (I think it is) can get you there.

Love mine--and I've had it for over 10 years and it's still going strong and looks great. If you bake it is definitely worth it--I use it for all my baking (even for recipies that specify hand stirring) because it imparts so much air into batters. I get tons of compliments on how "fluffy" and "cakey" my cookies are.

Have it, use it, love it.

In fact, I tried to convince my mom to let me take hers (which she still uses and still works) when I left home. HA! It was the one item of value we had in the house growing up, and the one time we left town on vacation she stuck it under the bed for safekeeping. No kidding.

Mine is lipstick red and sits out on the counter being pretty when not in use.

...and for the record, I have a small kitchen.

I use mine a lot. I've had it for probably 15 years with no problems at all. It was definitely worth the price.

This is too funny--your mom sounds like a hoot, I love the image of someone hiding the mixer under the bed.

I have the lowest-end model (4 quarts?) which was nowhere near $300, and LOVE it. I use it a few times a month and have had it for 10+ years.

Love it. We have several attachments so I use it instead of a mandoline for slicing potatoes, juicer, and food grinder (we buy chuck roast and grind for ground beef, I was too freaked out by all the ecoli hamburger recalls). Its good for baking and easy to clean up.
