We can indeed blame the OP for not knowing that middle schools are not high schools, and for insinuating that the bad part of the middle school program was that her child would have classes with children from the neighborhood.

Can you tell me about your experience with applying and/or attending one of the alternative high school programs offered in MCPS like at Richard Montgomery or Blair. I can't find any info on Thomas Edison HS. Do they group students with peers from the pool of applicants? Or do accepted students have classes with students that is their home school, too? I've heard that is a drawback with attending the Takoma Park magnet. The magnet student only has two classes with other magnet students and then all other classes are with Takoma Park home school students. Just want to see what the peer group would be and if these "specialty" programs are really worth the sacrifice we would make as a family with the driving, etc....

Lemme help you out....

Step 1 - Send your kid to Wooton
Step 2 - Let your child get a great HS education
Step 3 - Choose from the many Colleges and Universities offering your child acceptance
Step 4 - Watch your child flourish in college
Step 5 - Watch your child get a great job
Step 6 - Take a bow (now wasn't that easy?)

Yeah I 100% blame the OP for that.

But I am finding it funny that some people are just now discovering that students in the DCC have access to some programs they don’t. Even though their real estate agent told them their schools were the best.

OP is a troll. What’s your excuse for having nothing of value to add?

My parents went to Wheaton. I went to Einstein. Of course I bought a home in the DCC so my lucky lucky kids could get a choice. Now, my artsy one is at Einstein and my techie one is at Wheaton.

Voila! Great choices and futures for everyone.
