Is that include room and board? If not, the state schools are much cheaper and you have to include travel costs. |
| You really think there is less drinking and drugs... yea, ok. |
My DH is from the UK. There is drinking, of course, but there is no greek life, so it's a bit different. We are looking at UK unis. The only reason I wouldn't do it is the distance, and there is literally only one way to get there.. airplane. DC likes the idea that there is no concept of "general education" there. |
No greek life but kids can go to pubs. The difference for you is your husband and his family are from the UK and probably have ties there. There will be just as much drinking and drugs. Don't look to justify something that is made up. Go because it would be a good experience. |
That is Tuition fees only. For the same University adding Residence Fee and Meal Plan would be another $9-11K per year. |
|
University of Toronto tuition fees:
Domestic: Bachelors APPLIED SCIENCE & ENGINEERING $14,180 International: Bachelors APPLIED SCIENCE & ENGINEERING ~ $61,000 |
| My DD is looking at foreign policy or international relations. Is interested McGill, St. Andrews, LSE, Maine Wueens College. Kits only3 years, which helps on cost. |
| One of my DCs went to grad school in the UK. Several of both of my DCs friends went to Canada (McGill, U if T and u of BC are a few) and the UK for college. It doesn’t seem that unusual to me but given that some kids don’t want to even go out of state going to another country seems unlikely to appeal. |
| lots of drugs in both Canada and uk. not sure why you thin there isn't |
? Who's justifying anything. I just said there's no greek life there so you don't get the hazing and all that. Yes, kids go to pubs, but pubs shut down around midnight or so. |
Yes. And when you factor in higher living costs in Europe, plus the cost of airfare plus having your child so far away, it’s really not worth it. |
Most Americans are very myopic. But I do see more and more kids applying to schools up in Canada. Makes all the sense. |
See, the typical American snob
|
It's only three years in England; it's four years in Canada and Scotland. |
| Might be more drinking in Canada. Legal drinking age is 19 in most provinces, 18 in a few. |
