The only thing you are guaranteed is that your child can attend a public school in DC.

Now - let's do a reality check. During the last redistricting, there was not the will power to cut-off Crestwood and 16th St Heights from Deal.
Realistically, the 1st school that MAY be pulled as a Deal Feeder would be Bancroft. Why? Spanish immersion elementary should feed Spanish immersion middle school. Also - that part of DC does not have the same political power as Shepard.

I can not see a situation where Lafayette changes middle schools feeder pattern and Shepard does not. The Mayor wants to get re-elected. Reminder - Crestwood was not Grandfathered under the previous Mayor - but current one stepped in and over-rode that decision.

Crest wood doesn’t feed to Deal - what are you talking about?

See link, the first bullet point is Crestwood/16th St Hgts. And everyday a bus drives up 16th ST and picks up all those kids.

Crestwood neighborhood does have rights to Deal. Put an address in this tool: https://enrolldcps.dc.gov/node/41
A sample address to prove this is 1301 Kennedy St NW

This is only because of grandfathering. For younger kids in elementary in Crestwood (I'm forgetting the grade cutoff), they will not be able to attend Deal.

Clarification -
The Crestwood was grandfathered for children who are currently in 3rd grade.

Initially, the transition was more abrupt- like Eaton. Bowser changed it.

Ah ok I see. I was wondering how all those rich people had gotten stuck feeding to Roosevelt. Clearly, this is what's keeping Crestwood aging and stuck in time. I can't see any residents actually following the current feeder pattern available.

Most families I know who live in Crestwood are either grandfathered OR at charters (or private) they are not planning on attending the current DCPS neighborhood school.
