Torn on childcare issue

OP here and yes, we have a daycare spot. We are going to give it a shot and do a trial month for February since we need the coverage that month anyway. Will hold onto his preschool spot for that month, and our nanny will return from her trip in early March, so it's not working out then we will return to the status quo.

Like I said, my biggest concern is the fact that my 3YO has asthma and colds can be a big deal. If he didn't have asthma, I wouldn't be as worried.

I had severe asthma as a child. I’ve also taken care of multiple children who had asthma, so unless someone says severe, I assume that respiratory issues are slightly worse, but not life threatening.

You didn’t state anywhere that your child’s asthma is severe. They will get sick, the question is simply when. As I said before (unless you envision your child ending up in the ER at least once per month), best choice is to do daycare now and plan for sick days.
