Started period on ski trip

Agree with the suggestions to combine the tampon+maxi pad. Midol helps me with the cramps. And if you haven’t already, see your doctor OP. I became anemic from heavy periods and had to take iron supplements.

If you tend to put off intense physical activity because your period is so heavy, you may find that your period won't actually be so heavy when you're actively skiing and you'll be able to make it longer than you imagine without changing out your tampon.

At least for me, for the hour or whatever that I'm doing heavy exercise my flow eases off a lot.

OP, look into a Diva cup or something similar - you can get them at Target, on Amazon, not sure where else.

Even with a flow like you describe, that plus a pad will last you at least an hour.

So sorry OP. Even with a regular heavy period, it sucked to have it while skiing. Frequent bathroom breaks are not really an option.

I would suggest a strong tampon, an overnight pad and wear a pair of pants you do not mind ruining. Better then ruining the vacation.

I would go with a cup and thinx. Both will work far better then a tampon.

Definitely ski! Even if you need to go in to the bathroom after each run, it is worth it.

Ski anyway! Ibuprofen for any pain, go to the bathroom in the lodge after each run.

I remember years ago reading advice to someone going on honeymoon and getting her period to douche. It would flush out a lot of the menstrual blood and shorten the period. I have no idea if that's legit advice or not, but just throwing it out there for others to weigh in on.

Add a depends to an overnight pad and super tampon, change every few runs. Wear black pants

I used to get heavy periods and they stopped when I changed how I eat.

Read The Period Repair Manual by Lara someone. On Amazon.

No one has to have a heavy or painful period like us.

Doctors sell ablations bc it makes them $$. Not necessary at all.

There are products that are made for this situation. Something tells me this isn’t your first time. I went on the pill at age 39 for this very reason. I felt like a teenager with the number of pants I was ruining after I had kids. Tampons smaller than a hotdog were a joke. You have a choice- either strap on some menstrual products and get out there or let your vacation pass you by.

The Always Flex Foam pads hold an amazing amount. Grab the Overnight size. Sorry op. I used to have very heavy periods.

Being active on your heavy day usually gets the period over sooner.

Women who don't have gynecologic pathology are the worst...
