Mount Daniel Elementary (Falls Church City)

Definitely had a pretty white feel. Was hoping there would be more diversity given that there are a range of housing options in FCC (including high rise apartments and smaller townhomes).

Those small townhomes are still $600K and the nicer high-rises are quite expensive. Most of the apartment buildings you think are in FCC are actually in Fairfax County. We also know a few minority families who moved or found a creative way to send their kids to FFX schools because of bullying.

We've been very happy with the school so far. We are foreigners and I think the school has a very welcoming atmosphere. I went to an IB school and loved the program. So I was really excited to see that a few NOVA public schools had the IB program option in elementary school. I think the school does a good job with the IB program.

There are 2 elementary schools: MD for K-2 and TJ for 2-5. So although there are a large number of kids in a given year, the schools are small. I don't know how that plays out in HS, but for now, it means that we get quick, individualized and thoughtful answers to out problems/questions.
