Definitely a chance at charters. We know a lot of people that have gotten in to Mundo Verde (both campuses), Stokes, DCB, and LAMB.

For which grades? With the exception of MV P/8 taking a ton of kids for K and 1st, this years wait list stats don't jibe with your assertion

You can't look at just one year of data and determine the likelihood of what will happen. Our oldest is now 12 and we have lived in Brookland for 15 years, so we have seen many, many lottery years. Every SINGLE family I know has gotten into a highly regarded school for at least one child at some point. Mundo Verde, Stokes, ITS, LAMB and citywide programs like SWS. We turned down Mundo Verde to stay at another charter. We know families who were happy to get into CMI, then left for ITS. We know families who turned down Stokes for WOTP DCPS schools. Families who turned down MV to stay at Powell. And most of them settled long before there were multiple campuses for each of these schools. There are just a LOT of options, particularly if you are playing multiple kids.

This has also been our experience - not that everyone gets in to a school that is perfect for PK3, but that over the last several years we have seen the vast majority (though not all) of our friends land somewhere where they are very happy. For some that was in PK3, others it was later (1 or 2) but this description definitely matches what we've seen play out.

We have tried for 4 years to lottery into a dual language school and never even come close. We are IB for Bruce Monroe though and just plan to stay there.

+3. It will all work out unless you are extremely picky, but then you wom't be satisfied even with what you think is your first choice.
