Pp here. I canceled my interview. Felt so good. For once during this year of interviewing, I actually had some power.
😎 Watch, I will probably be unemployed again now that I have tempted fate. Even still, I just don’t want to work there. It took some time to get there mentally for me. |
Wow, I admire your strength and knowing what you're willing to endure (or not!) in a job. I wish I'd done more research before applying...I fell for the dog and pony show, and what a privilege it is to even get an interview.🙄
Wishing you all the best in your job search! |
NP. My final offer comes through this week and now I am dreading it a bit. |
Amazon is a large company with good and bad. Ultimately it depends on your supervisor and team. Don't rule them out. They have an unreasonable threshold for hiring. |
So, basically you know you cannot make it through a loop so you quit vs. trying. |
I have worked for some tough to get into companies before, including my current one.
This is more that as Ive gotten older in life, I’d rather listen to my instincts than do what I “should” do. I was on the fence about even going through with the interview from the start. I was going to use it as interview practice but I had so much practice this year I just can’t be bothered on Christmas week. None of the 10-12 people I know there seem extremely happy with the decision. Call it quitting, I feel great about it though. Trust me, it is not fear of rejection or The Loop interview though. |
Yeah but I keep hearing that peoples managers and teams are forever changing at Amazon. Sounds clustery. Also, since so much of the comp is stock I don’t want to get so wrapped up in watching and caring about something I have no control over. Everyone I know there has a 2 year or 4 year exit plan. |
AWS was the worst (and most unreasonable) interviewing experience of my life. This was prior to their big move here.
No way in hell I would work for them. I ended up walking out during the middle of the interview. --Industry Exec |
PP describes my current experience at Amazon perfectly, except I would add "high pay" to the list of pros as well (although it's because I joined when the stock was $1500. I envy my friends who joined when it was $500...). Anyway, to answer OP: "under consideration" just means you're in the queue of resumes to be looked at. it might never be reviewed if the hiring manager is far along the pipeline with other candidates. but just as a counterpoint, it was 3 months from when I submitted my resume to when I was called for an interview, and then I had an offer a week later. and referrals aren't a magic bullet - most positions end up having the majority of applicants be referrals, so it doesn't really stand out |
Interesting. What is the expectation these days? I am surprised you think 1 month is too long. |
I think it depends where you end up working, management, team. My brother has been with Amazon for over 2 years and he loves it. He is on kindle side, if it says anything. |
google was the worst I had seen. But maybe it's gotten better. It was a while ago. |
I got an offer from Amazon this week. It was about 12 weeks from first HR interviews to an offer. |
absolutely! Every team has it's own culture for sure. My current manager (4th in 18 months) is wonderful and I'm very grateful. But I'm still not a fit for the overall culture and I will probably have another manager soon anyway. the PP who referenced people having an exit plan is also true in my experience. |
Sorry I didn't catch the auto -correct of its to it's 😑 |
