HS student rate to babysit three young kids?

Why bother with multiple teens when you can hire a real sitter for roughly the same amount??

Are you nuts?! No way.

When I was 13 I babysat for a family with 5 kids. When I started they were 9, 7, 5, 2 and baby. I was an excellent babysitter! I think it’s terrible that people think so little of teens these days. The parents in this family were both from large families so they were familiar with older children knowing how to take care of younger ones.

Where do you live? That’s absurd.

Lol, clearly this is hs babysitter hoping out loud.

My DD lives in NWDC and routinely receives $20/hour. Maybe the rate is less in the suburbs.

You are really underestimating the capabilities of a high schooler.

+1 As a teenager, I was very capable of both. Have teens' capabilities dropped in the past 30 years?

Agreed.
When I was 14 I babysat for a family with a 3 year old and 1 year old. A year later they had another baby, so I was 15 and babysitting their 4, 2, and newborn.

The Babysitters Club girls were in middle school and baby sat for families with multiple and/or young kids.

Funny how times change.

Nope! My teenager babysits infants. She’s a lifeguard and a swim coach and *gasp* in charge of 5+ kids in the water. PP needs to unclench.

I have a 3 year old and 2 dogs and I pay our (immensely trustworthy and capable) HS sitters $15/hour if I'm not home (which means they are expected to let the dogs out occasionally), $12 if they stay home and I'm around (WFH).

I also was a teen who routinely watched 3+ kids. The only time a friend was hired to watch kids with me was when we watched 7 kids 6 and under for a few hours. I would pay 15ish dollars an hour.

My 13 year old babysits for one 4 year old (plays for 30 minutes and puts her to bed) and gets paid $15 per hour to mostly hang out on the couch on her phone. I don't think $25 is so off base for 3 children.

I’m a 40yo mom of 3 and would not take those kids on.

My youngest is 2 and I would not leave her with a hs kid. 2yo twins??? No way.

Over age 5 is fine and I would say $12-15.

The best bet would be to find someone who is a daycare worker and compensate them well to watch all three.
