People stress about their kids' every little "failure" to attain the 99th percentile.


Growth is not something that parents freak out because their kid is not in the 99th percentile but when a child is growing more slowly and that growth rate appears to slow down, it can be concerning. My nephew had serious asthma as a very young child, leading to hospitalization. His growth was affected and the Doctors acted quickly to deal with that problem. In his case, there was a clear connection between a known medical issue. But when growth in a smaller child slows down even more, people get concerned.

I’m not telling OP to see one or not, just giving name to the type of specialist that this type of concern would fall under. She seemed to be concerned and not know where to turn next.
