Dec 7 or Dec 21 for bday party?

7th, no question. The later in Dec you go, the more busy and harried parents are. Worst months for crazy-busy parenting: Sept, Dec, and June.

As a parent of a child with a late Dec birthday, I can tell you that you will get a surprisingly good turnout for a Dec 21 birthday party if it during the day. Kids who have already left for vacation won't come of course, but usually everyone else is happy to drop off their kid for a 2 hour trampoline session or whatever.

If you are expecting the parents to stay, YMMV.

I predict this year that the bulk of Christmas parties will be held the weekend of Dec. 14th/15th. Many people will look at the calendar and decide that the weekend of the 21st is too late.

My now grown son was born on Christmas day. We found that waiting for the first weekend after winter break in January was better for all.

I agree. My son is December 18th and everywhere is booked on the 14th/15. I decided that we will do January this year

December 7 (mom of a mid-December kid).

We're having one for our DD on December 14, but if that didn't work for us I would have gone with the 7th. Either way you're likely dealing with conflicts for other activities though - that's just the way December is. . . .

NOT 12/21. Most people will have started traveling already because there are only 2 work days before Christmas after that.

When is your kid's birthday? Mine is right around Christmas and we wait until early January and get nearly full attendance every time. People are happy to have something to do that first or second weekend in January.

I always do a a party the week before Xmas and everyone comes. I do evenings, and I think parents are grateful to drop their kids somewhere so they can shop, go out to eat alone. If a daytime party then maybe Dec 7.

If you live in Hawaii like my extended family does it is a State holiday. It is very much a family holiday so kids may not be available. Or, kids may be bored and a birthday party would be welcome.
