| UWashngton, UOregon, UIowa all have similar fun vibes with more forgiving admissions. Lots of great flagship schools will take her. |
| The California schools may be a little more "reachy" but Michigan and Wisconsin would be fantastic landing spots, with a whole host of others that are great as well. UVa is tough from this area. |

I'll tell you in May, OP. I have one of those. He has a 34 on the ACT so that helps but not sure how the GPA will play out. He has a 3.6.
So far, he got into a large EA state school (not on the east coast and not competitive at all, but has a decent program in what he wants to study). The lower GPA because of grade deflation and the lack of weighting and APs looks bad on the surface but I do think the colleges understand which schools are which and they know. |
| Tell her to work on getting over that B+ hump. More A's junior year would help her a lot. |
| Grades matter more than test scores at UVA, so she should work on getting those up, if she can. An upward trend is a good thing, so she has time to show that. UVA, UNC and Michigan are tough. UNC takes so many instate that it's really difficult out of state. And Mich is selective and gets applications from everywhere just being one of the top flagship programs in the US. Wisc seems to get more difficult every year. It seems to be the safety for Mich, but it's gettinga lot harder than it used to be. |
| ^oh I forgot about UCLA. The CA system is kind of odd. UCLA is definitely competitive but possibly less so than the others you mentioned, especially given the geographic diversity she'd bring. |
| Depending on what major she is interested in U Illinois Urbana-Champaign |

The lower GPA because of grade deflation and the lack of weighting and APs looks bad on DCUM but I do think the colleges understand which schools are which and they know. There is no question that all colleges/universities know exactly what they are getting with the DC based Big 3. DC will get in to most of schools listed. Only the 10 or so top state schools like Berkeley are out of reach. |
| A simple check of naviance will show you PP is wrong. |
| I wouldn’t trust any of the above people. Speak to your counselor or people you know personally. |
you think she doesn't know this? |
| Public Ivy is not a thing. |
Who said it was? |
Funny, I see it all the time. Other people seem to know what it means. Sounds pretty thingy. |
