In DC it is 11MPH over the speed limit before you get a ticket which is a ridiculous amount of leeway on a 25MPH road which is most of DC. Don't speed and you won't get a ticket. |
Ha is this post a joke? Don’t want to get a speeding ticket? Don’t speed |
|
I just drive 20 mph everywhere in the city. Annoys everyone else around me to no end, but I don't get tickets.
It's a speed LIMIT. There's no law in DC that says I can't drive slower than the posted limit. Don't like it? Go around me. Can't go around me? Well, I guess you'll just have to wait until you can, or I get where I'm going and I park. |
But that could take me almost 5 minutes longer to get where I’m going! Don’t you see how important I am?!!?? It’s a RANGE ROVER. I am IMPORTANT! |
Don't you mean it could take you three seconds longer to get to the next red light? Because that is normally what happens when people speed through the city anyway. |
Do you know what my hourly rate is ??!?? Those 3 seconds add up. |
| I live in NE and make it my business to know where rhe speed cameras are along my daily commute. When I'm in other parts of the city, I just obey the speed limit. Also, I drive a slow ass 4 cylinder vehicle and that keeps me out of trouble. |
I got a few tickets, now I drive the speed limit. I wish there were more camera. It is stupid to waste police man power to give tickets for speeding or running red lights. I wish they would install the camera that track reckless drivers on the highways. They have the technology. |

Ugh -- just payed a $100 ticket for 36 mph on North Capitol, which is basically a highway. (Speed limit is 25 -- who knew?) Meanwhile I live on NJ Ave. where cars roar by at 100 mph plus. They're mostly nonDC drivers, so I am certain they don't pay their tickets (why would they, since there's no reciprocity and DC has zero enforcement.) IN fact, they took out the speed camera on my block when it became clear it was a joke.

| I don't have an issue with the speed cameras. It's the hyper triggered stop sign cameras that kill me. |
