Preschool and Daycare Discussion
| OP here: thank you, provider, for your lovely story. I hope people will keep contributing to this thread and spread some cheer. |
I love my daycare providers at TCCC, they are super sweet and loving to my kids. I wish I could give them all a huge holiday bunus

Our daycare providers are contributing to WHO my daughter is turning out to be - and I am so grateful. They are helping to shape her, and they are doing a great job. It is a loving environment and we are very lucky.
I will never move out of this area until both kids are in school - my friends in smaller towns do not have nearly the access to high quality care we have in the metro DC area (we are in Montgomery County). |
| Our 19 month old DD loves her daycare teachers. We're pretty new to daycare but she runs into the room each day ready and eager to start her day. She's had a language explosion since starting with them, and she does stuff with them (playing with puzzles, coloring, etc) that she'd never do with us at home. She's a vegetarian and the cafeteria woman always cheerfully accommodates her meals. Usually she doesn't want to come home when I pick her up. |
| Love my in home provider in Arlington. (FYI, I'm the one who started the apparent firestorm on the last thread by saying my provider earned her 2 week vacation! Who knew?!) She helped raise my now 2.5 year old who has moved onto a daycare center, and started with her at 4 months. She helped teach her to respect others, to take care of her things, and to take pride in doing things for herself. She now takes care of my 1 year old son, and she is the main reason my toddler knows how to behave with a baby around. She teaches kids compassion. She is always surprising me with the things she does with the 9 kids in her care (with 2 helpers). She keeps her hours (7:30-5:30) and never seems to call in sick. She calls when we are running late or if one of my kids has to stay home sick to see how they are doing. She is the first person I consult if I have a question about a developmental stage or illness. We are so lucky to have her taking care of our babies. I also like the day care center where my now 2.5 year old goes, but that is a very different dynamic. Our in home provider was the perfect partner for my kids in their early years. |
| I'm the provider who posted about my awesome daycare parent who helped with my daughter. Here is more parent kudos! My doctor needed to change my appointment from today (Tuesday) to yesterday (Monday) and all of my daycare families yesterday worked their schedules to accommodate picking up a little early so that I could make my appointment. They didn't have to, but they did out of consideration for me and I thought that was fantaastic. Just wanted to share that, too! |
| I love, love, love the caregivers at Rock Spring Children's Center. Due to various situational circumstances, we've experienced several different daycare providers in the area, and we have been soooo happy at Rock Spring. Our children practically run to their classrooms in the morning. I hear no daily dramas relating to who did what or who acts out (because the teachers are very good at classroom control). My boys are learning and playing and laughing. They love their teachers, and we do, too. |

Another set of parents (and a VERY happy DD) who love our center---but specifically the providers! Although I had off today due to snow, I know how much my DD loves her providers and peers in her class so I took her for a few hours. Honestly, it was more of a hassle to get her there and then kill time for a few hours than to just stay home all day or take her with me to run errands. However, I know she'll be off later in the week and just didn't feel it was fair to her. When we got there (after been stuck in the house for days!), she ran full force down the hallway. She was practically banging down the door to the classroom! These women have a very special place with all of us...and will long after we leave this center. I have no doubt that they are all contributing to the happy little girl that we have. I expected her language skills to blossom, but I didn't anticipate how much her gross motor skills would take off. That's been an added bonus!
**When I mentioned to the director that I brought her in because I knew she would have more fun there than at home AGAIN, she chuckled and said I was the fourth parent who said that to her today. |
Where is TCCC? |

| I love the center my daughter attends. She has a bunch of caregivers in two rooms (mobile infants and younger infants) but they all seem to genuinely like her and she seems to like them. Some days she clearly doesn't want to leave! The directors are nice, too. The only reason I've ever wished my daughter wasn't in that center was that the commute can be a real pain, but oh well. For that reason, I'll probably move her for preschool rather than leaving her there, but I'll never regret the decision to choose this center for her. |
| My children are no longer in a daycare environment but when they were I was super happy with ther provider. She is still a part of our family even 3 years later. |
| I love our daycare teachers. In total I've had over 7 years of kids in daycare and there simply are no words to describe what they have done for our family. It chokes me up just to think about it. |
| Would those of you who have such praise for your providers mind posting who your providers are? These posts are so wonderful to read and for those of us searching for daycare it would be great to know who these fantastic people are. Thanks! |
