The weekend news will boost Trump in the eyes of his base. The Senators have good reason to stay silent, they are well aware that for now, despite the stark evidence of impeachable offenses, voting to remove him from office could oust them...which is, in the end, all they care about.

The leak about Sondland confirming that there was a quid pro quo? Or the World Series or the fires?

What weekend news did I miss?

ISIS Leader's death

If you're saying that people in Trump's base only hear Trump related news that they like and do not hear Trump related news they don't like, then I guess news doesn't really matter to them at all. So why even mention news?

So do I.

You give them too much credit.

I was encouraged by McConnell's op-ed the other day criticizing the withdrawal from Syria. I feel like he was trying to slowly begin creating some wiggle room for Republicans to act.

Moscow Mitch has his finger permanently in the wind.
He soeaks out of both sides of his mouth.
He's criticized the impeachment inquiry.
His op ed means nothing except he's keeping his options open. If public opinion in Kentucky changes, he will change his mind.

Or creating cover to make it appear he will consider the evidence, when he will not. He will spin it, till the defense of Trump is such utter nonsense, it will be impossible to refute.

Kentucky. One of the most backwards and poor states in our country, and those imbeciles ultimately call the shots.

Did killing bin Laden boost Obama's image in their eyes? I don't think it did.

It only works for your own base.

It isn't a blip on the radar. He has singlehandedly been responsible for the release of hundreds of ISIS fighters and has undermined our main ally against ISIS in order to kowtow to Putin.

Omg! Do you honestly believe that will cause all of Trump’s problems to go away? You’re adorable!

President DONALD TRUMP urged Republicans this morning to drop their crusade on the process....

“I'd rather go into the details of the case rather than process. ... Process is good, but I think you ought to look at the case."

Ok, so the process is fine. Let everyone testify and let the chips fall where they are.

Every single member of Congress took a vow to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. Their loyalty is to country not to party!

I meant that Trump's base solidifies any time their President does something remotely macho, and they have shown themselves to be impervious so far to the drip-drip of impeachment depositions. This may change. Trump's future as President is really at risk, but for the moment I still think odds are more than 50% that he will stay in office.

Trump R support has been above 85% the whole time. Only way he gets impeached is if that number starts to drop. Pelosi does the same thing on the D side. They are all driven by polls because they are politicians and they only matter if they stay elected.

This is meaningless unless he tells DOJ to stop fighting every subpoena and tells executive branch employees and former employees that it’s fine for them to be deposed.
