How do I keep Houdini cat contained while workmen in apartment?

My thought exactly. Also make sure to put a huge sign ( or caution tape or duct tape or...) making it clear that the door is not to be opened.

She injured her nose during short lockups in the hard carrier to go to the vet. I bought a soft sided kennel online. She shredded through the netting in four hours. What other options exist?
Crate?

Anything hard-sided, she frantically rams her face into. It’s weird. Door stop from outside was a bust. I will move on to the hook and eye someone suggested.

Does she bang her head because she is anxious? Can you do the hook and eye and ALSO address her anxiety? Strangers in the apt will undoubtedly make her anxious. Put Feliway plug-in in the bathroom, make her up a cozy bed of clothing that smells like you or put her regular bed in there, run some white noise, put on some music, get a Prozac prescription for her, bliss her out on Catnip, are all ideas.

Rover boards dogs, not cats. Maybe because cats hide?

I found someone through river to board my cats...you might just need to message individual sitters to see if they will do it.

Tape. Get a masking painters tape and tape the door along the line where they meet the frame. Good luck with that fluffy!

I have a cat who could the same but when we had a crew they suggested doing it and boy did it work. And so simple.

Do the tape trick, the hook can damage the frame.
