While I agree with you, it is, after all, a US National Team which represents the best of the USA. Hence, try to get the best US Citizen (or permanent citizen/Green Card) if possible but if a foreign national is better, then hire a a foreign national.

Why tie your hands behind your back like that when it isn't a FIFA requirement? You hire the best coach possible period.
