2013 ford c-max (nonplugin hybrid) 78000 miles.
I have been doing synthetic oil changes every 10,000 miles. as well as tire rotations at the same time of my 78000 miles about half of the milage has been with the engine off (car tracks it) so maybe a lightly longer oil change interval than a gas only vehicle. tires wear at the same rate longer interval between fuel fill ups, longer interval between air filter changes. the only real difference is the oil change interval. all the other system on a car are pretty much the same. |

2005 Prius with 190,000 miles that I bought about 3 years ago. Maintenance has been easier/less/cheaper than with our other car (Honda). Less frequent oil changes with less oil (about 3.3 quarts). Only done the brakes once.
The original battery still gets the job done. If/when it goes I'll probably go with a $1000 aftermarket battery unless there are other major issues with the car. The fear of a massive battery replacement bill scared me away from hybrids for a while. I now realize I should have been more afraid of all those $40 trips to the gas station with my old car. |
