"Our family doesn't bother doing SSL because of these ridiculous forms and requirements. We do our own volunteer work that's meaningful to us. There's always some silly B.S. make work project that the school creates so DC can earn the hours, so I'm certainly not going to make any further effort. Too many other more important things to do with my life.
The SSL requirement doesn't apply to your family, it applies to the MCPS students in your family.
Also, it's a state requirement. And if the MCPS students in your family don't complete the requirement, they won't be able to graduate from high school."
As I said, the school provides enough BS opportunities at school so my kids can get their hours. And they also get plenty of opportunity to discuss meaningful work at our dinner table. So don't worry, they will graduate and do just fine in life!
