s/o full pay advantage - All Eggs in the Hail Mary ED Basket?

All of the Ivies+ are need blind, so being full pay doesn't matter. My alma mater pretty much tells alumni that legacy bumps only come in ED. If it's not your child's first choice, then they don't feel a need to put your child in front of anyone else. They also strongly hinted that they are harsher to legacy applicants with weaker SATs and grades.

Go for it, your reasoning is sound...but make sure he has some Plan B’s he can live with.

This whole experience is valuable because it teaches kids that you don’t always get exactly what you want, but usually things work out in the end (one way or another)

If its a top 10 college being 50-75% as a typical white male student isn’t going to get you anywhere. Schools don’t care about legacies anymore and especially not the ones that haven’t contributed millions of dollars.
Why should they care about your kid? I haven’t heard any compelling reasons. These schools reject tons of kids with 98% stats.

50th % is for athletes, poor kids, kids who are first in their family to go to college. It’s not for privileged kids.

Odd that you think schools don’t care about legacy. Citation?

Name the school. And if he wants to go there and you can afford it, sure apply ED. It can't hurt.
