Pilot has the best 3rd row seating. If you drive your child and thrir friends, kids would be happy to be in the z3rd row. The 3rd row in highlander has less leg room and is narrower than pilot
Lexus LX580 is the best.
VW Atlas. Buy this year and you still get 6 year warranty. Goes down to 4 next year.
The third row in the Highlander was too small to be usable for my teenagers. We went with a Pilot and have been very happy.
Ford Explorer
ford explorer captain chair option so easy to do car pool
My kids love the 3rd row in Pilot. We were AWD EX for $33k |
We have a higher end Nissan Pathfinder and are very happy with it.
Another +1 for the Ascent with captain’s chairs. We bought one in May and love it. Took it on two long distance trips this summer and the kids were comfortable, plenty of room for all our stuff, etc.
Another +1 For Honda Pilot. I would say if you go that route look into the Piloteers forum. We were in a crunch where our last car died in the winter and it was the first year of the Pilot redesign so we weren’t able to price shop as much as we would like - especially close-in DMV. I discovered the pilot forum afterwards and realized it could have help to find a dealership where they were willing to deal even if it was in PA or NJ. We love the Pilot. |
I just bought a highlander today with captains chairs and love it!
Don't do the santa fe if you have more than two kids. For occasional additional kid hauling itbwas great. Now we have three kiddos and the lack of a pilot seat and awful "trunk" space is causing us to conaider upgrading two year old paid off car :/.
OP here - thanks for all of the excellent recommendations!
Can you read? OP looking for something affordable, not necessarily the "best one". Fool |
With tweens/teens, check the seats in the third row carefully. In many cars that last row is horribly uncomfortable for anyone over 6 years old. We choose a Ford Flex for that reason, and are happy with it, but that was about 5 years ago so I'm not up to speed on all of the current models.
