Does music still determine teen social groups as much as it did in the past?

No, I think the PP is correct. I think kids were influenced by the clothes their bands wore on MTV or in concert. I don't think that's the case now as kids listen to different genres and fashion seems more influenced by social media celebs.

I’m not sure music determines your group like it did. But there are trends. So I wouldn’t say music, but movements/social media. It’s more subtle but it’s definitely there. My niece is in high school and she dresses a version of PAC Sun in the late 90s and early 2000s. Is comical to me because I’m like you realize your mom had this style. The stuff she posts reminds me of high school.
