Oh come on, not my post, but I thought it was funny. We can all use a reminder to lighten up now and then.

Can you please tell me what is so special about Maret that it is so popular?

I posted it as a joke... I just remember in HS/college/single days always trying to read between the lines of notes passed in class, emails, and VM's. Sometimes it just is what it is.

I think Maret's popularity is based, at least in part, on the fact that it is one of the only K-12 schools in the District. Lots of people want to apply to a school and then not have to worry about going through the application process again until College. Maret also has a wonderful campus and a strong faculty.

We were waitlisted for first grade at Maret. Got a handwritten note, which I thought was a courtesy... I still assume it's a very, very long shot!

No the head of the school is married to the head of GDS.

We were waitlisted (for K) and did not get a heandwritten note. You must be the true waitlist. Are you the same poster whose child was wailisted with a sibling at Burgundy? Any progress?

Congratulations, really. That is exciting even if the waitlist is not likely to move. It's a real invitation to apply again if nothing else. I am sooooooooooo embarassed now by how much time and energy I spent last summer "waitlisted by Maret" and thinking what an unusual position that was and surely something would move.

Ahh, to be not so young and very naive and a schmuck.
