please give suggestions for colorful perennials to plant beside a walkway leading to my front door

My tithonia has grown to nearly 8 feet. Not a plant I'd think of for a walkway. But the butterflies and hummingbirds love it.

On my list to try next year are Happy Face Potentillas. These are really more a shrub--they grow up to three feet high and three feet in spread. The write-up says they bloom nonstop from spring to frost. They come in yellow, pink, and white. They also are said to attract butterflies.

There's a dwarf tithonia, Fiesta del Sol. I saw lots of it at Brookside Gardens near the butterfly house.
