https://www.thewrap.com/yahoo-revises-chris-pratt-white-supremacist-t-shirt/ "U.S. media took a bold stand against racist tweets by the president of the United States this week, with much of it objectively calling Donald Trump’s behavior “racist” after resisting that label in its news coverage for years. On Tuesday, a Yahoo piece did its best to undermine the whole exercise. And the whole thing is completely counterproductive when it comes to the debate we’re having right now. It makes the media look rabid for this controversy and for more symbols to associate with racism. It allows defenders of Trump’s racist tweets to point to the Yahoo story and say: “See, look how out of touch these people are! They see racism everywhere.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/07/17/yahoos-story-calling-chris-pratts-t-shirt-white-supremacist-did-us-all-disservice/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.5e3db8a27613 |
They’re Libs. |
Im an ardent anti trumper. But I am also from New Hampshire. Where this flag has for years been used to emphasize our libertarian roots.. Has been since colonial days.its a revolutionary war symbol. There are plenty of legit things to get worked up about. This isn't one of them. |
| I realize this is not a political forum but it does touch on that. People are much more willing today to call out someone as a racist. People --maybe because of universities or culture-- are so much more focused on race and their "identity" and being offended. And yes --absolutely yes--people look for it. That coupled with a tremendous amount of ignorance is fodder for people concluding a flag associated with the founding of our country being a racist flag of the KKK. It is not possible to have a reasonable discussion about Race or anything really with very ignorant people. |
This is why Trump will win again. |
| I don't get it. I just googled it and only history shows up. I can't find what negative connotation it has. I am an immigrant, but why is this symbols racist? |
It isn't. Somebody is grasping at straws. |

Delete your account, Yahoo!
You haven't been relevant in years. And now you're negative. |
You are exactly right. It's so obscure that the supposed racist meaning is unfindable. And yet someone more woke than you and I told OP it's a racist symbol, therefore it must be so. So now Chris Pratt is being smeared as a racist. |
| Supposedly he is crazy religious. |
|
"Don't Tread on Me" has to do with early Americans and their English rulers...
what the hell... there are serious race issues in this country - maybe spend your time being outraged about those |
|
He goes to a homophobic church so not sure you're wrong but that t shirt isn't racist it's libertarian.
- liberal who hates trump |
+2 Graduate educated, military wife and no idea. If it's at a store, you buy it. Apparently now everyone has to Google American symbols before wearing them just in case the KKK appropriated it first. |
| I’m from New England, and the don’t tread on me flag is hanging in every bar in Boston. I think most people there only associate it with the American Revolution. It doesn’t have anything to do with race. |
| Racists do appropriate a lot of symbols, ruining it for everyone. After a lifetime of wearing a pagan religious symbol, a friend finally hung his up because it was attracting many white supremacists when he was in out in public. They were dismayed to find he didn’t share their vile beliefs and a few insisted he take it off on the spot because HE was soiling it since his GF is not white. After a few bar fights, he’s given it up. Not so easy if you have a tattoo instead of jewelry. |
