Consumer reports - do you care how they rate your car?

I haven't read CR articles and rating on anything for more than 15 years. I am 51. You can find better rating research online. 4Runner is one of the best selling SUVs right now.

As others have noted, CR reviews cars as if they were toasters, leading to silly results in some cases.

But I have found their used car reviews of prior years helpful when considering the new edition of the same model. Stuff that was true about prior models' reliability has proven true with later years.

IIHS safety ratings are key.
