Obviously no republican will have a decent response to this question. There just isn’t one. If they were being honest with themselves, here’s what I think they would say:

I just got so caught up in being anti-democrats that nothing else mattered. I hated democrats more than I hated predators and dictators. I thought the best president would be the one that is most cruel to democrats. Trump fit that bill. Now I’m realizing that someone can’t effectively run a country based solely on their hatred of half the people living in that country. But I’m in too deep now. I can’t look foolish by admitting I was wrong. So I am now choosing to continue supporting a monster over admitting that I was wrong. I don’t know what I would say if someone ever asks me these questions in person. I also don’t know what talking points I will use to support any republican candidate in 2020. I can keep saying that the economy is good, but what if they ask me what Trump policies had anything to do with that? I can’t list off a bunch of accomplishments that took place during the 2 years that Rs had all the power. I can’t really say that we are the party of Christian/family values. I can’t use the Lewinsky card. I can’t even talk about Obama's vacations and golf outings. I can’t talk about Michelle wearing a sleeveless dress. Honestly, I am just silently hoping that democrats will save me from myself by impeaching him. Outwardly, I will act outraged, but silently I will be relieved to finally be out of that pickle I got myself in!
