I'm not the PP, but I read The Kids are All Right and I really enjoyed it. It was interesting and fast. |
The Pleasure Trap, and The China Study. |
The Twilight Series (horrific writing, totally addictive storyline)
Protecting the Gift (informative if a little paranoid...not surprising considering the author's background) Just finished Say You're One of Them by Uwem Akpan. So so so good but totally hard to read and devasting (hence the Twilight Series). |
South of Broad--Pat Conroy's latest. |
Skywriting, Jane Pauley
|
I just finished The Help, by Kathryn Stockett. One of the best books I've ever read. |
As a woman of color, I've got to say I found The Help really inauthentic and a little sterotypical with the typical black long-suffering-martyring maid. |
curious... are you interested in the subject or ? |
The Lace Reader - just finished and think I need to reread it to figure out the "twist" at the end. |
I just finished Kingsolver's The Lacuna and Byatt's The Children's Book. Now reading The Emperor's Children by Clare Messud. Not up to the level of Kingsolver and Byatt, but good. |
Everything Matters, by Ron Currie. It's odd, but I like it.
Unaccustomed Earth and Thirteenth Tale were also good reads. And I liked South of Broad, though it was longer than it needed to be IMO. |
Finding it difficult but am trying to make it through Three Cups of Tea. |
Always have been interested in physics (especially thermodynamics). But mostly I leisure read textbooks because it keeps my brain active, without being drudgery (such as my work related books). I also read People magazine, though, so I cast a wide net. ![]() |
From Dead to Worse (bk 8 in Sookie Stackhouse series; a guilty pleasure)
The Shack The Human Stain Atonement |
annoyingly bad writing and annoyingly addictive story. read all 4 in the summer of 08 in a span of a few days. now have to listen to my students go on and on about the movies. |
