S/O Scooters Nightmare - how other cities are dealing with it.

Cars are parked in designated spaces. If they were randomly left on the sidewalk or the street, people would have big problems with it. Same with the scooters. The problem is they’re left lying around. If they had docks, it wouldn’t be as much of a problem. It’s a private industry taking advantage of public space.

People park cars in designated spaces. People also park cars in undesignated spaces, like sidewalks and bike lanes.

But I'm fine with designated scooter parking in the roadway. Switch over car parking to scooter parking and bike parking. Are you fine with that?

Scooters block the way of people in wheelchairs. That's a real problem. But they don't cause horrifying crashes.

You know what does cause horrifying crashes? When drivers collide with people in wheelchairs.

Maybe you live out in upper suburbia. I see wheelchairs, especially the motorized ones fairly often. In fact, when the sidewalk sucks really bad, they use the bike lanes (I have no problem with that BTW).

I live and work in DC, and only on occasion see a person in a wheelchair, often a homeless/beggar (so possibly not really disabled).
