S/O why do people NOT in crisis have children?

Anonymous
The people who post one DCUM seem to mostly be “in crisis.” Affairs, personal insecurity, loud arguments, divorce, alcoholism? Sounds like a crisis to me!

Barf. What a pointless post, OP.

I only had one kid. It was because of a biological urge. I love him dearly, but it has been a tremendous amount of work. My career and marriage have taken a hit. Glad to have my kid; not having more. Don't want to take care of more kids.

What were the answers on the other thread?

Ha ha

Free fun. (Yes, still true for affluent people)
They’re selfish and want some thing to cuddle (yep)
No access to Bc (my recent baby was conceived as I was in between BC, and same for my 37yo done-with-kids friend)

-mom of three! (Last one a little surprise, now 2yo is THE sweetest thing I have ever seen)

So rich people shouldn't have kids- but they should still pay part of their income to those that can't afford to have kids but do anyway?

Honestly I look down on people who succumb so much to their biological urges that they have more than two kids. They’re the reproductive equivalent of the obese. Control your impulses! Use your rational brain, not your lizard brain.

There will be more their genes in the world. They are winning.

Poor people have more kids and are usually less educated.

There will always be exceptions but this is a true trend.

That's pretty much the arguments that were made by the eugenics movement in the early 1900s. But it is also a fact that those poor children are disproportionately exposed to pollutants that the rich families (who are exposed to proportionately less) produce.

Yup. Having children (and I have them) is completely irrational.

Who cares about that, though?

Affluent, educated people in the US (not just the US but will use that) produce the most greenhouse emissions and pollutants. (They also have the least exposure to pollutants; low income people in the US are exposed to a larger amount of pollution than they generate directly or by way of the things they consume, while affluent people in the US are exposed to less pollution than they generate or cause to be generated--this was in a recent Scientific American article. Microplastics everywhere.

This population places a profound burden on the planet and its own future descendants. But not only do they continue to bear children, they have and use resources to enhance their individual reproductive potential via fertility medicine.

really, I just wanted to make a point. At the moment, I am reading Arctic Dreams by Barry Lopez, I am a parent, and it's all pretty damned unsettling.

Move to China. Better air, better free speech, better military, better internet, more people, better science. You know, the real world.

SjW whining about evil America while sitting in America w their iPhones and a/C on, not so much.

Go back to England, George, what’s with all the whining about taxes and what not. You “revolutionaries” are so annoying.

But the people who can least afford them have more than those who actually can provide for them.

This assumes they know or care about their impact. They do not.

Most people are like me.

If we were truly objective, gattaca style, it would be the top 1% having the babies and the poor and uneducated being sterilized.
