Hotel doesn’t have freezers

You’re better off not to freeze. Fresh milk lasts a few days in fridge.

I had this problem at a work conference hotel and ended up bringing my baby and husband with me. If I had more flexibility, I'd have stayed at an extended stay hotel with a fridge/freezer.

1. Never assume, always call. I agree this would be a health code violation.

2. Use ice if you need to, but That being said, if you have access to a fridge, then you can always apply the 6/6/6 rule with milk.

3. See if the hotel will help you get dry ice to travel home. If not, get the instant cold packs.

Huh. I’ve done this at least 3-4 times in hotels in the US. I’ve never had the front desk question it at all—they seemed happy to help. (I did keep it in a small cooler—never handed them a baggy of fresh breastmilk by itself—but they were totally willing to take my cooler and hold it for me.)

No way can you put breastmilk in a restaurant freezer!!!!

In the future you tell them 1-2 days in advance you need a mini fridge with a freezer compartment for “medical reasoa and they will give you one.

Maybe they weren’t storing it in a commercial freezer, but perhaps one used for staff purposes- in a break room- if that exists.

You don't need to freeze it. I traveled a lot (almost 200k domestic) and pumped the whole time and never dumped. I kept in the fridge during my trip. I had an insulated bag with a freezer pack and I used ziplocs full of ice for the plane that I refilled mid-flight. I froze when I got home and perhaps kept one or two of the newer ones out if I had to go to work the next day.

BuyBuyBaby on 25 and 7th should have some insulated bags designed particularly for breast milk storage.

You sound entitled. No they can not put you milk in a commercial freezer where they store food.

I always think people who refer to breastmilk as "bodily fluid" do so with a sneer and a wrinkle in their uptight noses.

FFS, she's not asking to store vaginal discharge or urine. This is FOOD FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

Breast milk carries many of the the same diseases as vaginal discharge or blood would. It isn’t safe for universal human consumption unless it has been screened and processed, just like blood products you would receive from a donor.

Don't worry, none of us want you to personally consume it.

I’ve had literally dozens of hotels in the US do this for me with no issue. Maybe some state regulation...but what you experienced is uncommon in my experience.
