Actually they did. We assembled, sewed, and stuffed our own stuffed animals. They also taught us to do laundry, cook, clean, and wash dishes. Bring back home ec. |
You're old. |
Yep young Gen x/old millennial. Practically ancient by today’s standards. |

Am I the only one who read "get fixed" and thought the OP wanted to get a stuffed animal spayed or neutered?? I was so confused....
OP, I hope you got enough info to restore your baby. If you were my neighbor or friend I'd help you out. |
| Do you know any old ladies? They’re usually great at that stuff. |
I thought the same. |
💯 |
| I mean, my 11 year old could do this for you. |
|
This makes me nostalgic for home ec and sewing pillows with animal faces on them.
There are fix it workshops in DC: https://doee.dc.gov/service/fix-it Here is a stuffed animal repair hospital you can ship to: https://wineybearsrepair.com/product/order-a-repair/ |
Yes, sewing is a basic life skill the should be learned by all genders, both real and perceived. |
| Is that bobbit guy still alive? He might have some tips. |
| What happened to home ec?? I'm sad there is no basic skills these days. |
| Oh man I clicked on this thread thinking we were talking about spaying/neutering. Guess not!! |
What is this? Little house on the prairie? I’ve known one family member who could sew. ONE of my grandmothers. And, yes, she grew up on the prairie. No one else ever needed to sew because of access to seamstresses. It’s not a necessary life skill. |
