Birth strikers: Refusing to reproduce because climate change

Anonymous
They would find some other excuse not to have kids even if climate change wasn’t a threat. Meh ......

As long as they don’t shame breeders I’m fine with this.

They’re right.

Yeah, I regret having kids not because of the kids but because it really opened my eyes to how all children deserve so much more than the world we have made for them. Climate change is just one part of that. And I guess I sort of knew that intellectually before but now it is just so viscerally heartbreaking.

It is the natural progression of the 'Stop at Two" movement in the 60's.

I hope this same journalist checks back with these people in 5 and 10 years. But it’s amusing that they thing this form of protest deserves attention or laurels.

My DD's history teacher spent the better part of this past semester imploring the girls not to have children, telling them it would be a crime against the world. He told them it was their civic duty to their fellow human beings to make sure no more children were born. Liberal indoctrination at its' finest. Thanks Dems!

Hope somebody will call the teacher out. This is really crazy.

My DD recently shared a bunch of Gen Z future dreams vs. climate change memes. It really opened my eyes to what kids are feeling. We’re not even particularly green as a family.

This.

I wish businesses would clamp down hard on business travel.

Yes, this. It’s really awful to think about. Think Europe and the US have migration issues now? Wait until the entire middle band of the world is uninhabitable. And is Mexico going to continue sending us all our fruits and vegetables once droughts become an even larger issue? Our food supply is not encouraging. Plus the disaster/FEMA response issue.

Kind of a dumb point when we very recently had a thread about a conservative S-C-I-E-N-C-E teacher at a public school who doesn't "believe" in climate change. Nutbags on the left, jokers on the right, and here I am, stuck in the middle with an asshole like you who pretends that crazy doesn't just equal crazy. There are insufferable loons on both sides, there are hypocrites on both sides, and there are good people on both sides.

Sadly, these thoughtful, intelligent people won’t be the ones reproducing. It will be the stupid, anti-birth control crowd who hate women and children. Their spawn will carry on the stupidity.

For how many decades have people been worried about “what the world will be like when the kids are grown?”
People all over the world, for thousands of years, have been and still are born into all sorts of circumstances, some worse than others. Yet life goes on. The world is not, and is not becoming, a worse place than it’s ever been in human history. So much drama.

And a birth “strike”? The only person you hurt by resigning to have children is yourself. No one else cares (except maybe your own parents).

look at this way. at least we are getting those genes culled from the whole.
