Thank you to the poster who suggested letting my 1 yo pry individual cheerios out of my closed fist for an airplane flight activity. It was, in fact, a huge hit!

Also, thank you to the sleep suit on backwards poster.

Ha! That may have been me! It took me way too many diaperless nights to figure out that trick.

I'm grateful for the many who recommended the Tangle Teezer brush for curly hair. Mornings were so much easier once she could manage her hair without me.

Thank you to the posters who share their marriage/relationship issues. It usually sparks very thoughtful conversation while making others feel they aren’t alone.

Thank you to the poster who recommended calmoseptine ointment (and told me to find it in the incontinence aisle at CVS) and finally cured DD's diaper rash!

thank you to the poster who suggested a rock n play for my baby who did not sleep more than 20 min at a time. I know they are recalled now, but dang, 6 years ago, that thing saved us. SAVED US. first night in it, slept 4 hours straight.

PP here. Also thank you to the many many kind responses when I posted when I was home with my one week baby. I felt lost, not bonded or in love with my baby and was crying a lot (me not the baby!) and wondered what was wrong with me. Without fail, every single response was kind, patient and encouraging about the process of becoming a first time mom. And its is a process that goes way beyond birth and coming home from the hospital.

Thank you to all the posters who suggested the wet brush for curly, tangle-prone hair. It's been a game changer for me in dealing with DD's hair.

Thank you to the poster who reassured me that I wouldn’t be admitted into the hospital during my PPD. My anxiety was sky high at the time and all I thought was I wasn’t going to be able to see my child.
I have seen a counselor since then and I’m doing much better. I really hope I know you in real life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Thank you to the poster, 8 years ago, who told me I should get a second opinion when my pediatrician dismissed what appeared to be a peanut allergy in my toddler. Sure enough, a variety of allergy testing over the last 8 years has shown my son is indeed allergic to peanuts and pretty much all treenuts. That may have literally saved my son's life.

Anonymous wrote:Thanks to the posters who said flat out that pediatricians often dismiss language delays. I followed my pediatrician’s advice until my kid was almost 2 and he still only had a handful of words. Once I decided to get him evaluated against my ped’s advice, he got into speech therapy very quickly and in just a few months he was talking in 4 word combos!

+1 - Pediatricians generally aren’t trained in speech development.

+1. Even parents with more experience get worried and anxious sometimes. This can be a supportive, encouraging, educational place if we make it so.

+1! I just posted a couple weeks ago about my 2 year old’s rash and the calmoseptine was amazing. One or two uses and it faded to a dark mark.

Thank you to OP for starting what may be the nicest thread on DCUM ever....

Thank you to the poster who recommended the Lumberjanes books for my DD. She LOVES them, and I love them too -- full of humor and good (but not preachy) lessons about inclusiveness, acceptance and how to be a good friend. I think these singlehandedly drove her into the next stage of being a reader.
