Educational Consultant Recommendation for general guidance, not to get my kid into Sidwell

Not that I have any rec's, but just wanted to offer a word of support. I can fully understand why someone would hire a consultant, if I had the extra cash, I would farm out some of my unwanted tasks (cooking would be at the top of the list!). Two parents who work full-time handling child rearing, household chores and necessities, weddings, must-attend birthday parties, funerals, meetings outside of work, etc...
Oh yeah, then there's the issue of maintaining the marriage...whew!! Who has time for the extensive research that goes into finding the right school. A consultant could provide valuable factual insight into the different area schools, allowing OP to rule out some schools without even so much as a visit to the website (e.g. XYZ school has little socio-economic diversity or ABC school doesn't offer a foreign language until fourth grade).

Sorry, not to ruin the thread with an off-topic debate (not my intent at all, I promise), but I just wanted to say, "I get it."

I agree wholeheartedly. I also have a personal trainer, psychotherapist and nutritionist to compliment the nanny and the house and yard cleaners.

Why are you so critical of OP wanting advice from an expert on schools? She has not said she wants to outsource the decision. She hasn't said she doesn't plan to visit the schools. She just needs help figuring out which ones she should look at first. Did it occur to you that maybe she is new to the area and/or doesn't know about a lot of the school choices? She says she doesn't necesasrily want a big name school. There might be a number of great small schools she would never even know about without talking to someone.

Back to the original topic - I only had a quick call with them and decided to wait a year but http://www.independentschooloptions.com/ was recommended to me and they seemed good.

No criticism here. I do hire and use the above services. Why do you view this as criticism. Don't you approve?
