Started new diet, still gaining weight

Anonymous
OP here. So fruit and corn are bad? No yogurt?

Today I had a small bowl of oatmeal (160 calories), a leftover sausage link (140 calories) and piece of corn (150 calories), and I was planning to grill some salmon for dinner.

Supposedly an 8 oz piece is around 300 calories. Is that too much for a diet?

I also had an apple already (80 calories) and I was hoping to have a bowl of fruit and a yogurt later for "dessert".

I guess I am still eating too many calories?

You aren’t eating the right macros. It’s not about calories. Plus 120 is fine, you do not need to lose.

Everyone says dieting is "calories in, calories out."

OP no snacking. If you feel hungry, chug 3 glasses of water. That will fill you up.

What people don't understand or want to acknowledge is this is only true sometimes, and it varies from person to person.

If you are not really short, your body will fight weight loss at that weight, if you are a over 40. I should know, trying to get rid of the same for the last 3 years. It just doesn't want to go.

People keep saying not to focus on the # but I can’t help it. This is the heaviest I’ve weighed in years.

The fruit is fine, but you need more vegetables. And you don't really need to lose weight OP. Relax.

NP. No, it's true for 99.9% of people who don't have a severe metabolic disorder. Either someone's overestimating their burned calories, underestimating their food calories, or both.

Dude, you are going to starve yourself if you eat fewer calories than this.

I have no good advice because I found myself in the same situation earlier this year - just a hair over 120, trying to lose a couple of pounds so my pants are just a bit looser, and finding it hard. But I really truly cannot fathom how you can eat fewer calories than this and still function.

Try exercising more.

You know what we're going to tell you about your weight and height, OP. Regardless, if simple calorie restriction isn't working and you've ruled out thyroid or other health issues AND you still want to lose weight, it may require trial and error: low carb, keto, intermittent fasting, HIIT workouts, building muscle by lifting heavier weights. Research a few things and give them a shot. There's no hard and fast rules that apply to every person.

Cheese and protein drinks are better than fruit?!?!

Oh hell no, OP don't listen to this nonsense. Fruit - any fruit - is great for you, packed with water, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and life. It's real food. If anything, skip the belvitas. We all have our indulgences and that's normal, but from a nutrition standpoint, they are garbage.
