Private & Independent Schools
| You poor souls really don't have kids in private schools do you? And, you're women teaching the next generation? No wonder our country is falling into the gutter in every which way |
LOL. I bet you are just jealous that when you try to swear you sound like a nerd. Now put your lips together, grit your teeth and say "SHIT". You can do it. Sure you can |
| I grew up in the 'hood -- I don't sound like a nerd when I curse. I don't choose to -- it's low class and offensive. What about you Miss Nerd -- I bet you are a suburban "ghetto wannabe". |
| Because we straight up ghetto biotch. Ghetto in Tory Burch.... |
This is funny, although I don't think she meant it to be. |
| Is not that difficult to comprehend. It's not rocket science folk. If every other word out of your trap is a curse word, this correlates with the limited English content of neuronal vocabulary storage space in your brain. Your brain is connected to your mouth and fuels what you vocalize. |
Hmmm, I am not sure that is true. As an English teacher and someone who has taught writing (as well as public speaking) at high levels, there is a need and a place for curse words in our language. Now, if it is ALL that someone has grown up with and has NO other words for irate other than "fucking mad as shit" well, then, yes it doesn't bode well for them. But I have a WIDE range of words to choose from, and sometimes a curse is simply the best word. Given the appropriateness of the audience and the situation, a curse is just another expression of emotion and the popularity of curses among those both educated and not show its need and value. Linguists have long studied cursing and it is not a true correlation to lack of education or "the limited English content of neuronal vocabulary storage space in your brain" or whatever it is you are talking about. When you stub your toe, an "ouch" simply does not do. There is no way around it. |
Well, I have worked for many years with a group of high strung trial attorneys. They can curse with the best of them. The women right on par with the men. Many of them attended and graduated from some of the top universities in this country. The universities that the wannabees on this board aspire for their children. I guess their limited English did not bother the Harvards, Yales and Dukes. Alas, I think you are WRONG. |
| What nonsense are you talking about? If one's lexicon is simply a continuous babble of cursing (rule rather than exception) one has a limited vocabulary. We are not talking about the occasional "stub the toe" use of curse words. No one suggest that even the most learned do not curse from time to time. But, if the corollary is true then vocabulary is limited! |
| Attending an Ivy league school is not always confirmation of a high standard of English language usage and mastery...it may correlate better with test-taking ability (multiple choice bubbles) and grade inflation. It was true during my collegiate years and continues today. |

| Je ne sais pas. Va te faire fautre! |
| At least it sounds nicer with a French accent pp |
I agree with this. Studies have been done, by people like Fussell. Re Barbara Bush, I think she's just a mean beaytch, her meanness exists apart from her class or her Smith education. |
| Sorry, that should have been "beyatch". |
