It’s my god given right to drive anyway I want. |

AWD/4WD only helps you move in the snow/mud/of road. It does not help you turn or stop.
I used to live in an area that is 5x more snow per winter. You would always see the yahoos in there SUVs thinking they could stop in snow or ice. (personally, I drive an AWD car). |

I am emergency personnel so I need 4wd or awd. Even though this past winter I didnt use it at all.
If you are not emergency personnel and dont own a house in a ski area like Wintergreen you go to in the Winter then No you do not need it in this area. |
+1 Also +1 to the confusion about rain = 4WD need |
| I have a rear wheel drive car and drive to work in snow all the time. My staff has SUVs and telework. Ironic |
| Yes. Always get it. |
Nope. When it snows, I hanker down. NO go. |
For safety? Yes? No? Maybe? Does it increase safety in any way shape or color? |
| If you don't need AWD or 4WD, why are you getting an SUV rather than a station wagon or a hatchback? (I would say "or a minivan," but I am pretty sure I have an answer for that.) |
yep. that is the answer. You know it, I know it.
