BRYC?

SYA had an insane coach for one of the younger boys' teams this year so I would investigate that before committing.

Whomever posted this, could you add any color to this? I have a incoming U9 and SYA is our home club, would love to know more about this coach. Not sure if it's the same guy that presented at the parent meeting, but he seemed ok.

Does your child play in SYA rec U8 now, or do the Academy?

We are not in the academy program, he is playing rec currently. This would be our first kid in the travel soccer world, but our 2 old kids did do travel lacrosse and I know how your first coach can either make or break you.

Could you be confusing passionate for psycho. Some tend to do that but I have never seen him. Could it be over coaching at U9?

I'm the one interested in the U9 SYA program and unless you are socially blind, there is seldom any confusion between being a psychopath and passionate with children. I do however want to hear what others have to say about this guy and we will also do our own research by going to a game or two.

Maybe we know you. My son plays in U8 rec for SYA also and there really aren't that many boys left in rec at that age since so many do the academy program. We really like his rec coach and he has been on a nice team for several seasons so we are staying in rec even though my son could probably make one of the travel teams (they do two or three per age group). I have only heard second hand from other parents but what I have heard is that coach does not have the right temperament for this age group, is a yeller, and is frequently negative. Sorry, that's all I know. Good luck.

Thank you for the insight. Always seemed to be a well run organization so I'm surprised to hear that the coach at the younger levels does not have the right temperament. I don't live too far from their facilities so I'll to watch one of their games, are their schedules posted on the SYA site?

Now that you know....You should stay clear if this coach is in play. Not a good review even if it is from a outsider looking in.
