Get out while you can. Was anyone’s grandparents born in another country? You might be able to get citizenship in that country.

To the poster who wanted some cutbacks, you have your policy coming in that Trump is going to try to end Obamacare in the courts. Both his Health Secretary AND Attirney General were against this sudden change, but seem to fear death by twitter!! However, not to worry, Trump has a plan and you know he is probably up in his bedroom talking to his best brain about what it is right now. Maybe he will tweet out the policy tomorrow. You need to follow on your local level what this will mean and keep on your Congressman and Senators. Just when you think things have some stability, he goes at something to destabilize the health structure of 20 million citizens and impact how many more ???

I guess we are fortunate for all three to have Medicare as primary insurance. I suspect we will just get DD off of Medicaid and buy her a supplement, too.
But what are you families of children and teens with a condition going to do.

I don’t think it’s a lack of compassion but we can’t just keep spending more without a way to pay for it. I am supportive of some moderate tax increases but only if paired with reduced spending.

Do you have ANY idea how much tax payers shell out for his trips to HIS Florida resort??
Who are you, Betsy DeVos ? No regular person doesnt see the hypocrisy of this administration

We as taxpayers paid approximately $100 million extra in security costs for Melania to maintain a second residence in NYC so that her son wouldn’t have to change schools mid year. It’s unfortunate that her child is twice as important than all the autistic kids in the country.

I actually think that was ok to let her son finish the school year at his school. That is not the overall issue. I care about all the trips he makes to his resorts especially when he slammed other presidents for vacationing. He is a child. I think putting his needs first is ok in that situation.

All of the kids affected by the $51 million in budget cuts are children. But some children are more equal than others, as this budget cut proves.

Doesn’t matter what cut they make to the budget, someone will be unhappy, but at some point we have to balance the budget so spending has to be cut back. I don’t like the administration either but I am glad to see cutbacks.

Then perhaps the GOP-controlled Congress shouldn't have passed massive tax cuts last year.

I guarantee this poster will be whining and crying when some benefit of his is cut in the future. Conservatives always find it incredibly easy for others to endure a cut in aid.

+1 Special needs kids can do without while the ultra rich gets enough of a tax cut to buy a new plane.

Exactly!

The massive tax cuts disproportionately went to the wealthiest 1% of Americans and profitable corporations. Adding insult to injury it also creates new tax incentives to reward companies that move jobs to other countries.

And now, we have a ballooning deficit and have to make "tough choices" and cut programs.

This is a feature, not a bug. It's the Reagan playbook all over again but taken to an even more extreme degree.

It is turning this one-time moderate Democrat into a democratic socialist.

Great, then are you volunteering to take care of my autistic child when I'm dead? Thanks!

There are very few services and supports outside the school system for SN kids. Most of us get help through insurance or basically spend everything we have (or both) for help for our kids. To say you are glad they are cutting back means you have no empathy or kids who need help in your family. One day one of our kids could be your grandkid, niece or nephew and you may feel differently then. There are so many ways to cut back all the fluff spending vs. take away from kids who need it. You can cut Trumps weekly FL trips out and really do some good with that money.

We are definitely fortunate to have good insurance, I admit that. Anyways I’m not trying to cause trouble. Like other government funded programs I know why people find value in them but feel strongly that too much spending will be much more detrimental to the entire country.

To hell with kids without good insurance. There. I made your post honest.

This is where I get confused.
We have insurance and a kiddo with ASD. I am not sure what help we are actually getting. So cutting a budget- that already gives me and my kid nothing, does not seem that impactful.

We are screwed currently for LT care. We are screwed for aftercare. We are just screwed.

If people will actually be impacted by these cuts- then I get it. But I am unclear what services people actually think are being provided.

He is the child of a billionaire who ostensibly could have chipped in to pay for all the extra secret service protection. No, the country should not have had to spend $100 million so that this child didn’t have to leave his school immediately. Think of all the military families who get uprooted all the time. It infuriates me to see all the cuts in services to help special needs kids while we paid for that.
