I’m agreeing with you and yet, just assuming my 2019 Audi’s AUTO setting has this all figured out.

in VA the law is that light must be one only when the wipers are on continuously. So if you have them on intermittently, then you don't need to have your lights on.

It is insane that cars' automatic lights don't automatically go one when the wipers are on.

That's why I love my Subaru Forester. The lights are always on and turn off automatically.

Yes because that’s the only car in the market that turns lights on/off automatically.

Hopefully, your assumption is correct. My 2016 MB does not have it figured out, so I just have the lights on all the time.
