Playdate question

I'm surprised how PPs go all out with bagels, mini muffins, fruit, juice, etc for a casual (1 hr?) playdate especially with a neighborhood family, whom I presume, you see /spontaneously play with outside frequently.

How nice of the PPs to offer this! I think it's great. Why are people so darn critical? I honestly chalk it up to jealousy.

It’s too overwhelming for a one hour play date, when will they play? One snack, one fruit and you can offer coffee, tea, water but not have it set out in a spread to distract them. If they say “I’m hungry!” then pull it out or in a lull. Otherwise if things are going well, you’re chatting and they’re playing don’t pull any of it out. The food spread is better for play dates that last over an hour or if you specifically said come for breakfast coffee and bring your kid.

First PP here, and I don’t feel I “go all out”. It takes me but a few minutes to throw together a tray of cheese fruit, and crackers. Guests can have some, or not, and DD and I can munch on it later.

Toddlers gonna toddler, Nd sometimes they eat a good breakfast, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes moms have no time to eat themselves, and enjoy something to nibble on while their kid is entertained.

Exactly. It is a very warm and welcoming thing to do for guests.

I guess I run in different circles. Not one person who has come to my house is likely to be overwhelmed by cheese, crackers, and a few strawberries.

If they are, we probably don’t mesh anyway.
