An hour is too much of a commute for me, especially if it's in the car and not via metro where I can spend time either working via email or reading something for pleasure (Audible is nice in the car, but driving takes energy and focus).
The question I guess I have is how would you use that extra money? Do you get better leave, to take nicer vacations? Are you ambitious, do you WANT to do more work? |

| OP here- it’s almost all Metro with a short walk on each end, and I think can be about 50 minutes when I catch it perfectly, so I’m rounding to an hour. I could probably drive quicker but I hate driving. I’ve also sussed out talking to people in the office that closer to 8 hours in the office with a little here and there occasionally later, or at home, or on train is pretty normal and accepted. I think I’m in! |
