I can't imagine anyone in their 20s to 50s playing Bunco.

Also drinking to dangerous excess and humiliating hazing.

Seriously. They had abs and muscles and were hung.

Paying to be in a friend group, one that is based on judging people quickly for their superficial similarities.

You are better off.

I felt comfortable making new friends outside of my sorority and just didn’t want to be bothered with meetings and social events with a group of people that I didn’t care to spend time with.
It never occurred to me - until now - that the three years I spent as an active sorority member helped me to build my social skills. Working on projects and attending social events with a large, diverse group of young women gave me lots and lots of practice in the social skills department that I would not have had otherwise. Ironically the confidence I gained led me right out of the sorority into a new group of friends - but looking back I truly have no regrets. Sorority life can have some long lasting benefits. That said, I’m sure the same benefits can be gained outside of a sorority!

This was my experience. I lost interest my junior/senior years and dropped off. But, those first two years were so much fun. I have no regrets. My sorority wasn't as b&tchy as posts make them out to be and I really don't recall any eating disorders. It was not a miniature version of "Real Housewives, The Younger Years." We were just kids having fun pretty much all the time. But, what absolutely was true is the drinking. OMG the drinking. I guess that's everyone in the first few years of college, though.

I loved it. I went to a large school- 25K students- and being in the Greek system was a way for me to meet a lot of people and make many friends (not just in my sorority). We weren't beauty queens or bitchy- we had all types in our house. I made a lot of good friends and am going to a reunion soon (20 years later).

I always thought that I would've hated having so many obligated events to attend. If you have a huge exam or big paper to write, tough, you have to go. If you are tired or not feeling well, tough, you have to go. Not to mention all of the cringe-worthy dumb things.

I can’t say I disagree with most of these rules. If you follow them you’ll look classy and put together. I might disagree with the makeup rules but the clothing rules are fine by me.

Meh. My sorority had none of this. It was really fun.

That's pretty much standard. By third year most kids are pretty over Greek life, plus you're 21, so house parties with blackout drunk 18 year olds feel lame-o. By fourth year you're pretty checked out, unless you're an officer, I guess.

Time management. Nobody pressures you to miss important academic activities. There are student-athletes in Greek life who obviously aren't missing practice and games for Greek events either.

Totally depends on the house and girls. Quite a few of my girlfriends had boyfriends from hometown or who they met freshman year that they were faithful to all through college.
