Does it disturb you that Obama waived it for Rhodes?

Does it disturb you that Clinton shared classified information with Weiner and put lots of stuff out on an unsecured devices?

Do you disturb yourself because you are a moron? Do your parents worry about you? They should.

President Trump pressured his former chief of staff John Kelly and former White House counsel Donald McGahn to grant his daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump a security clearance over their recommendations, according to a new report.

CNN reported Tuesday citing three people familiar with the matter that the president’s decision to intervene in his daughter’s security clearance process "rankled" White House officials.

So all the Trump family members are given security clearance based on Trump's insistance against Security professionals recommendations! So Trumpkins, do you care about National Security anymore? When will this POS family be out of WH!

Will Cul45 member justify this action instead of deflecting with inane whataboutism? Do they care about National Security? Do they care that Trumps are acting like they are the royal family of America?

There really can be no justification for this. It’s really bad. Unfortunately not a basis for prosecution (afaik) but certainly a basis to toss trump out of the WH. Why would he be so careless with our state secrets? And why weren’t people like John Kelly or Mattis sounding the alarm? I can understand that trump is an amoral and traitorous criminal, so he’d have no concern about exposing America’s secrets to benefit himself and his family. But why did other “grown ups” in the administration no sound the alarm??

I understand the murkiness of law etc, but arm twisting by a president to provide security clearances to people who would not qualify otherwise should be illegal. Someone who has security clearance cannot share information gleaned through special access with someone else who doesn't have clearance. In fact people can go to jail for it. So, how is pressuring to give clearance to undeserving family member any different?

Does it disturb you, PP, that your president rage tweets from an unsecured phone?

Does it disturb you that he has conversations with tyrants and no witnesses in the room?

Does it disturb you that he has lied more than 9k times since he has been in office?

I could keep going. Talk about head in the sand . . .

Once this national embarrassment is over and we go back to having a President who behaves with honesty and dignity, someone needs to chance the rules on security clearances so that Presidents can't overrule professional judgments.

Absolutely. Someone above said this was proof that our government is broken, but it’s actually just proof that that the GOP is broken. We do need to tighten up these laws and rules. Brennan was on Lawrence O’Donnell this week and said these kinds of clearances aren’t denied for small potatoes - Jared and Ivanka have alllll sorts of foreign entanglements and financial difficulties.

Dems are trying to make changes now in regards to all the ethics violations by Trump, but Rs are fighting it.

This week's Rational Security podcast was about Jared's security clearance. They talked about it as "lawful but awful" - and did seem to believe that it is an actual security risk, plus shows Trump's gdawful judgment.

Seems worth listening to if you're interested in how folks with national security expertise think about this.

Trump is preventing Cline from testifying before the House despite a subpoena.

Gee, I wonder why.

It will be another court case the Administration should lose.

At his peril.

The White House this week directed former personnel security director Carl Kline to defy a subpoena issued by the House Oversight Committee as part of the panel’s investigation into the controversial security clearance process for administration officials.

Kline was slated to appear before the committee for an interview on Wednesday but was told by the White House to ignore the subpoena, unless a representative from the White House counsel is permitted to attend the interview.

“[M]y client has been instructed not to appear tomorrow. With two masters from two equal branches of government, we will follow the instructions of the one that employs him,” Kline’s attorney, Robert Driscoll, wrote to committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, D-Md., late Monday.

Driscoll attached a letter from Deputy White House Counsel to the President Michael Purpura revealing the administration’s instructions for Kline to defy his subpoena.
