Don't agree about the two girls phenomenon, however, there does appear to have been a surge in boy births at the end of 2012 and first half of 2013. My son is in Kindergarten (Feb. 2013 birthday) and the ratio of boys to girls in preschool and at his elementary school has been at least 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 for the past 3 years. |
I have two girls 4 and 6

They exist, but they are all too busy doing their daughters’ hair to get out of the house, so you don’t know them. |
Seems like everyone I know has 2+ girls.
And then there's me and my 3 boys. Sometimes I laugh and sometimes I cry. |
You tend to know families with kids of your kids’ gender. I knew without reading this you had a boy. |
LOL What? I know so many.. |
There’s a 25% chance that 2 kids will be girls. So it’s really just your bubble, not some DC area phenomenon. |
I am a “younger parent” (for DC) and had DD1 at 30 and DD2 at 32. |
In my friend circle, I can think of one family with two girls. Most have a single boy or an older boy and younger girl. However I think it's sort of self selecting, most people don't seem very receptive to having their daughter have a playdate with my son but there's SO much more interest when the other child is a boy.
Also, my son's 3 yo class is 7 girls, 5 boys. |
+1 the girls I know from two and three girl families play with each other and don’t do a lot of playdates |
There are three families like that in my daughter’s Girl Scout Troop. I also know three families with TWO BOYS.
You need to get out more. |
I have two girls, 2 years apart. Both were outnumbered by boys (by a large margin) in their preschool classes. |
Two girls 3 years apart. 9 and 6. |
and Putins |
I know tons of 2 girl families. |
