I don’t think it is odd at all either. We my child’s caregiver had to quit (she was having her own baby). I cried and cried. I was going to miss her and trusted her completely and I was stressed about how to find equally great care for my child.

I'm a nanny and believe me we cry too when we have to leave. I'm very blessed to have previous mom bosses become dear friends and mentors over the years. In addition to still seeing the kids. OP I know you said your caregiver was leaving the country but you can Skype and FaceTime and still keep in touch if both parties are willing to make the effort.
